Peggy Carr began her career teaching teenagers with intellectual disabilities for ten years, taking post-graduate courses in special education at Texas Women's University along the way. That love of education and teaching has never left her.

Over the past 45 years, Peggy has been a dedicated community volunteer, serving in many capacities at Saint Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, including leading a women's Bible class for 39 years. She has served as President of the Junior League of Dallas and participated in Leadership Dallas, and has lent her time and talents to a wide range of boards including the Dallas Women's Foundation, Greater Dallas Commission for the Homeless, Lone Star Council of Camp Fire, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Educational Opportunities, Friends of WRR, and Trinity River Audubon Center. She currently serves with the Texas Conservation Alliance.

Her commitment to education has also taken her to the boards of Saint Michael School, The Hockaday School, Mary Baldwin College, and the College of Charleston. She was a founding board member of Catch Up and Read and tutored at Sudie Williams Elementary School, where the organization was founded.

Outside of her volunteer life, Peggy ran a calligraphy business for ten years and has tested recipes for cookbooks. She is a lifelong reader.
