Stedman Allen brings a deep commitment to young people and a wealth of experience to his role as a Professional Mentor with Friends of the Children – Dallas.
A graduate of Angelo State University, he earned his degree in Business Administration in 2016 and went on to spend six years as a collegiate men's basketball coach at both two-year and four-year institutions, most recently as a graduate assistant at the University of Missouri, helping to guide, empower, and develop student-athletes in the highly competitive SEC. He holds a Master's degree in Sports Management in Education and is in the final stages of completing a second Master's degree in Public Policy.
That experience carried him into four years in the nonprofit sector, where he served as a Program Specialist, Youth Specialist, Regional Teen Director, and Assistant Site Director. In that time, he managed a caseload of 55 young men in the ninth and tenth grades, delivering the Becoming a Man (BAM) curriculum through life-skills activities, experiential learning, open dialogue, and academic support. He developed workshops focused on college and career planning, facilitated civic engagement sessions, and led community service initiatives. Before joining Friends of the Children – Dallas, he served as Enrollment Specialist at Watermark Community Church in South Dallas, where he cultivated meaningful relationships with students, their families, and the broader community.
A lifelong learner and critical thinker with a deep passion for equity and youth development, he is also the Founder and CEO of Young, Humble, Beast, Ltd., a platform created to give individuals space to express themselves authentically and speak empowerment into their own lives.
